Ray Elliott, 84, died peacefully in his sleep 12 Nov 08, 6 am Central, at Go Ye Village in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.  Memorial Service was Friday at 2 pm at the Evangelical Free Church of Tahlequah.  A memorial fund* was set up, in lieu of flowers.

Ray is survived by his wife Helen (with Alzheimer's), and his 8 children who have all been with him here recently, Linda, Marsha, Steve, Deb, Jan, Shari, Dan & Karen.  The Go Ye and the E-Free Church communities have been very loving and supportive in his last 9 years here.

A member of Wycliffe Bible Translators, and Summer Institute of Linguistics, Ray worked for 50 years with the Nebaj Ixil-Maya of Guatemala.  We are so thankful that his last illness did not strike him until after a wonderful life-celebration trip back home, accompanied by 33 family members.  This included the dedication of the New Testament on 12 Aug 08, attended by hundreds of Ixiles and many others.

Our prevailing sentiment now is thankfulness! For Dad's life, and family, and friends & colleagues, and work. And thankful for many aspects of the timing in these last months. We will gather some of that to share through this space.
